Grammar: The Negative Form

In French, we use the negative form to say that something does not happen or is not true.

The most common negative construction uses ne…pas around the verb to make a sentence negative.

👉 The negative form is used to deny an action or express disagreement:

Examples:

“Je ne mange pas.”

“Elle ne parle pas.”

To form the negative, place ne before the verb and pas after the verb.
